Background
Born at just 25 weeks gestation, IK’s early days were fraught with challenges. Harmony Healthcare became involved when IK’s initial care package fell through while he was still in hospital.
Plan
IK’s family was determined to bring him home after spending eight long months in hospital. On 31st October 2023, Harmony Healthcare stepped in, and by 14th November 2023, his tailored care package was in place. This enabled IK to finally come home and reunite with his parents and his big brother.
Action
Like many premature babies, IK faced significant respiratory challenges. His first winter involved frequent hospital visits. However, with the unwavering dedication of his incredible Mum and Dad and the support of his care team, hospital stays were minimised, allowing him to spend more time at home.
Results
This year, IK has made remarkable progress. He is now much more stable, with fewer hospital admissions. He has even started using a standing frame, gradually building the strength to stand upright for extended periods.
With the ongoing support of his care team, IK’s parents now have the opportunity to rest and spend quality time with his big brother. Recently, the family celebrated a significant milestone by attending their very first live football match to cheer on their beloved West Ham. The care team ensured IK was well looked after at home, enabling the family to fully enjoy this special day out together.
Another major achievement came during the summer, when the family took their first holiday together, a cherished experience made possible through consistent support.
Reflection
It has been a privilege to witness IK’s growth and progress. Seeing him thrive and reach new milestones is immensely rewarding. Supporting his family in creating these unforgettable moments is an honour, and we are proud to be part of their journey every day.
