Navigating Life After an Acquired Brain Injury
A client under our care suffered an acquired brain injury (ABI) following a fall, significantly impacting their cognitive functions, memory, speech, and physical mobility. As a result, the client experiences difficulty with communication, reduced mobility, and requires support with daily activities and rehabilitation to improve independence and quality of life.
Creating a Tailored Rehabilitation Plan
Our team developed an individualised care plan based on a detailed assessment of the client’s neurological and physical needs. In collaboration with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, we structured a comprehensive rehabilitation programme aimed at improving communication skills, cognitive function, and physical abilities. The care plan also addressed the client’s emotional well-being, given the life-changing nature of their injury.
Delivering Holistic Daily Support
Daily care includes assistance with personal hygiene, mobility support, and a structured rehabilitation routine that focuses on cognitive and physical recovery. The client participates in regular speech therapy sessions to improve communication, alongside physiotherapy to enhance mobility and strength. Our team also supports the client with memory aids and structured routines to enhance cognitive function. Ongoing collaboration with medical professionals ensures that the care plan remains responsive to the client’s changing needs.
Fostering Recovery and Independence
The client has shown gradual improvement in communication and mobility, regaining some independence in day-to-day activities. Speech therapy has helped the client articulate basic needs, and physiotherapy has improved strength and movement. Emotional support and a focus on holistic care have enhanced the client’s quality of life, offering hope for further recovery while ensuring comfort and safety in their daily routine.
